Fever, molecular excitability and epilepsy.

چکیده
The transmission of the electrical impulse across neuronal membranes relies on innumerable excitable molecules that visit an array of conformations. It is not surprising, then, that the best recognized manifestation of cerebral hyperexcitability, a seizure, should exhibit some temperature dependence. From an enzyme catalysis perspective, a brief temperature i e w i b e l r N a c o 7 e b p r c g i h e t d s a protagonism of non-ion channel – and even of extraneuronal – molecules in genetic epilepsy. In both old and new epileptic phenotypes, inexcitable-protein genes such as the G-proteincoupled receptor fragment VLGR1 gene MASS1 [6], the soluble protein gene LGI1 [1], and, now, the casein kinase 2 gene CSNK1G2 [3], are receiving close attention, while three

Effect of eugenol on lithium-pilocarpine model of epilepsy: behavioral, histological, and molecular changes
Objective(s): Epilepsy establishment gives rise to biochemical and morphological changes in the hippocampus. Oxidative stress, morphological changes, and mossy fiber sprouting (MFS) in the hippocampus underpin the epilepsy establishment. Eugenol is the main component of the essential oil extracted from cloves with the potential to modulate neuronal excitability. Therefore, we investigated the e...
متن کاملNeuronal injury and death following focal mild brain injury: The role of network excitability and seizure
Objective(s): While traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a predisposing factor for development of post-traumatic epilepsy (PTE), the occurrence of seizures following brain trauma can infuriate adverse consequences of brain injury. However, the effect of seizures in epileptogenesis after mild TBI cannot yet be accurately confirmed. This study was designed to investigate the ...
متن کاملffects of morphine_ dependence on the induction and modulation of epileptic seizures in rats
Kindling is a very suitable animal model for studying basis mechanisms of epilepsy. In this model , repeated exposure to weak electrical or chemical increases neuronal excitability and there fore decreases the threshold for induction of epileptic seizures. According to abundant distribution of opioid peptides and their receptors in different brain structures and also the role of these receptors...
متن کاملMolecular mechanism of circadian rhythmicity of seizures in temporal lobe epilepsy
The circadian pattern of seizures in people with epilepsy (PWE) was first described two millennia ago. However, these phenomena have not received enough scientific attention, possibly due to the lack of promising hypotheses to address the interaction between seizure generation and a physiological clock. To propose testable hypotheses at the molecular level, interactions between circadian rhythm...
متن کاملEffects of Dorema ammoniacum Gum on Neuronal Epileptiform Activity-Induced by Pentylenetetrazole
Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disease which disrupts the neuronal electrical activity. One-third of patients are resistant to treatment with available antiepileptic agents. The use of herbal medicine for treating several diseases including epilepsy is on the rise. Therefore, further investigation is required to verify the safety and effectiveness of Phytomedicine in treating diseases. The ...
